about
"Just Out Of Reach" was inspired by a great online article which stressed the importance of understanding strong and weak chords, the prior being unmistakably from a single key and the latter capable of being from multiple keys.
A strong chord has both a 3rd and a 7th, either of which can be major or minor.
A weak chord has neither, however there are varying degrees of strong/weak in between these two extremes (if you use only a 7th or only a 3rd.)
The idea is that while performing Improvisation in Jazz and other forms of music, it's easier to play weak chords for the soloist/s.
For composers, it's a fun and easy way to modulate.
